All-Rights Deal
A distribution agreement granting the distributor every type of distribution right.
Full Definition
An all-rights deal grants a distributor the exclusive right to exploit a film across all formats (theatrical, VOD, streaming, DVD, TV) and territories, often for a period of 10–25 years. While these deals can provide broad distribution, filmmakers should be cautious: ensure the distributor is committed to active exploitation and negotiate for minimum guarantees, accounting audit rights, and reversion clauses if the film goes undistributed.
